Medicine Assistance Tool

A partnership of America’s biopharmaceutical companies, doctors, patient advocacy organizations, and civic groups to help low-income, uninsured patients get free or nearly free brand-name medicines.


Needymeds

NeedyMeds is an online information resource of programs that provide assistance to people who are unable to afford their medications and health care costs. All the information is free, easy to access, and updated regularly. No registration is required and we don’t request any personal information.

Financial assistance for major illness or injury.


James Mott Community Assistance Program

Their goal is to empower communities with economic and equity disparities to attract investment opportunities in housing, health and well-being for youth, adult, and elderly persons, financial stability, workforce development, and education that will create a greater quality of life for individuals and families using a holistic approach through a model of self-sufficiency.

Cooling Assistance Program

Are you in need of a little help to keep cool this summer? Apply for the Cooling Assistance Program for low income households.


Energy Assistance

The purpose of this program is to help eligible households with low income (in Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church) offset expenses associated with heating and/or cooling their homes.


Foreclosure Prevention

Services Directory for Fairfax County

Provides resources and information for homeowners that are not able to pay their homeowners association dues, are facing foreclosure or experiencing other financial difficulties. Information about credit repair, budgeting, financial literacy, the County’s Coordinated Services Planning department, HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, and other resources is available.


Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS)

Offers intensive housing case management. Focus will be on housing and barriers leading to housing instability. No financial assistance available in this program.


Financial Training

The Women’s Center, Vienna, VA

Provides resources for financial consultations, budget/credit counseling, and housing specialists.

CommonHelp

CommonHelp is Virginia’s fast and easy way to apply online for many Virginia social services assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, Energy Assistance, and Child Care. Through a single online site, you can find out for what assistance you might be eligible and submit one application saving you time and effort.


Tax Preparation Assistance, Free

AARP Tax Aide

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation help to anyone and if you’re 50 and older and can’t afford a tax preparation service, we were made especially for you.


MyFreeTaxes

United Way free service enables individuals or families with a combined income of $62,500 or less in 2015 to file their own taxes free.


Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Assistance is provided at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations.
