Housing Rental Assistance from Fairfax County

Fairfax County Rental Program

The Fairfax County Rental Program (FCRP) includes all rental property owned by the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) and developed with funds other than Public Housing funds. This program includes housing for families, single persons, seniors, and supportive housing for special populations. There are over 1,929 FCRP multifamily units as described below.  There are a total of 504 senior units also managed under the FCRP program.


Fairfax County Rental, Senior Housing

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) currently owns 8 affordable senior housing communities and 2 affordable assisted living communities throughout the Fairfax County area. These communities typically feature gated garden style communities with one-bedroom units. Some offer studio or a few two-bedroom apartments and or are co-located with senior centers and other community programs. Additionally, the senior communities have emergency pull cords, common area lounges, laundry facilities and rental fees that include utilities.

Lower Cost Repair and Maintenance Help

Home Repair for the Elderly

The Home Repair for the Elderly Program is designed to provide minor home repairs to eligible low and moderate income elderly homeowners residing in the property, as well as accessibility modifications for disabled homeowners. Fairfax County will provide a crew to do up to one week’s labor and provide up to $500 in materials to complete necessary repairs and maintenance. Materials are paid for by County and Federal funds.


Rebuilding Together, Arlington-Fairfax-Falls Church

Rebuilding Together Arlington/Fairfax/Falls Church (Rebuilding Together-AFF) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that makes critical repairs at no charge for low-income homeowners and nonprofit organizations. Our volunteers make homes safe and healthy, and they help seniors age in place. We give special priority to seniors, people living with disabilities, families with children and veterans.

Almost 15 years ago, three faith communities came together with a common goal to build a home for older persons of all financial means that feels like home; offers personal choice; provides a wide range of high quality assisted living care and services; is located convenient to loved ones, friends, and familiar places; and offers an enriching environment for residents to thrive.  Chesterbrook Residences believes that assisted living should be affordable without large entrance fees and with reasonable monthly rent and service fees offering value without sacrificing quality for our residents.


Lewinsville Retirement Residences

The Lewinsville is a 143 unit garden apartment complex in McLean, Virginia, sponsored by The Lewinsville Retirement Residence, Inc., a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church. This community offers apartment units designed to meet the needs of the elderly. The Lewinsville is a federally assisted project under the Section 8 program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).


Lewinsville Senior Center

Welcome to the Lewinsville Senior Center – part of the Fairfax County Senior Center Network! Senior Centers in Fairfax County are full of life, engagement, learning and fun. Activities at county senior centers are as diverse as the needs and interests of the communities they serve.  Here at the Lewinsville Senior Center, older adults (50 and over) come to pursue fitness goals, hobbies (such as art, music and crafting), learn new skills, make new friends and to just plain have fun!


Vinson Hall

Vinson Hall Retirement Community is a Life Plan Community (formerly known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community or CCRC). It began as a labor of love, conceived by the Navy Officers’ Wives’ Club of Washington, D.C. to create a retirement home for widows and has flourished into a vibrant senior living community.

Assisted Living at Arleigh Burke Pavilion offers a residence for those who need more assistance with day-to-day life while helping retain as much independence as possible.  This, coupled with engaging activities throughout the day, creates a stimulating living environment.
